The high school swim team wrapped up their regular season in dominant fashion last weekend, with several standout performances at the sectional meet. Five swimmers punched their tickets to the district championships at Cleveland State University this Saturday, capping off a strong postseason push.
The boys 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams, comprised of Amir Mahraz, Chris Pawlowski, Caden Reyes, and Logan Reyes, posted their best times of the season, showing impressive speed with room to improve even further at the district level.
In individual events, Caden Reyes secured a district spot in the 100 backstroke, while Chris Pawlowski advanced in the 100 breaststroke. Logan Reyes had a stellar meet as well, qualifying for districts in both the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, where he placed in the top five in both races.
On the girls side, Berta Handl delivered a spectacular performance, taking first place in both of her individual events. Already the school record holder in the 100 backstroke, she shattered her own mark with a new personal best. She also made history in the 50 freestyle, breaking the school record with another personal best time and first-place finish.
With momentum on their side, these district qualifiers now set their sights on Cleveland State University’s Natatorium this Saturday, where they will compete for a chance to qualify for the state championship. Given their recent performances, the team is poised for a strong showing at districts.
Stay tuned for updates as the team takes on their next challenge!
