Bailey Licht did it all for North in a 14-0 bounce back win over St. Hubert’s (Philadelphia, Pa.) in Myrtle Beach on Wednesday, 14-0, in four innings.
The Rangers, who improved to 2-2, suffered back-to-back losses on Tuesday and needed a win to get back on track.
“It felt good to bounce back from a couple tough losses yesterday,” Licht said. “We played two really good teams, and I believe that experience will help us grow and learn as a team.”
North scored one run in the first, another in the second, and then blew the game open with a five-run third and a seven-run seventh.
Licht led the Rangers at the plate as she went 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored.
“It was nice to come out and get a couple of solid hits today,” she said. “I didn’t have a great day yesterday, so it felt good to be able to contribute on the offensive side as well.”
Ashley Sykes continued to pepper the ball with a 2-for-3 day at the plate, scoring three runs and knocking in another.
Melanie Okerwall, Brynne Smith, Gianna Latini, Saray Avery, Olivia Credico, and Giavanna Tirabasso each collected one hit for the Ranges. Smith doubled and knocked in a pair of runs and Avery led the Rangers with three RBI.
The one run the Rangers collected in the first inning was enough for Licht in the circle, who allowed just one hit and struck out six in a four-inning complete game.
“My focus today was throwing first pitch strikes and limiting my walks,” she said. “I accomplished that by throwing first pitch strikes on 10 of the 14 batters I faced and having no walks. Getting ahead in the count lets me use my off-speed pitches more often to keep the hitters off balance.”
North closes out its Myrtle Beach trip with a game against Armada on Thursday and South Williamsport on Friday.
