
PAINESVILLE—North’s track teams opened the season with strong performances at the Red Raider Invitational.
The girls’ team placed third with 58 points, while the Rangers were fourth in the boys’ competition with 57 points.
Sophomore Amaya Majette won the discus throw with a best mark of 105-7. She also placed second in the shot put with a best toss of 32-8.
Junior Rylee Smith won the long jump, clearing 4-8. She also placed eighth in the long jump (13-9.25).
Sophomore Paylin Ooostdyk finished third in both the discus (98-7) and shot put (30-6.20).
Freshman Zoey Prosen cleared 4-6 to place fourth in the high jump, and she finished seventh in the long jump (14-2.50).
Junior Alexavier Harris finished third in the shot put (42-9.50) and eighth in the discus (109-2). Junior Brayden Sandstrom placed sixth in the long jump (18-10), sophomore Camden Zappola finished fifth in the pole vault (8-6), and junior Ethan John Cauton finished seventh in the pole vault (7-6).
The Rangers also claimed a win in the boys’ 4×100-meter shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 1:03.79. and the boys’ 4×200-meter relay finished second in 1:35.60.
North’s girls’ 4×800-meter relay (11:48.23), boys’ 800-meter sprint medley relay (1:41.45), and the girls’ 800-meter sprint medley relay (2:03.04) each finished third.
Finishing fourth were the boys’ 4×400-meter relay (3:55.78) and girls’ 4×400-meter relay (4:43.42).
The girls’ 4×200-meter relay (1:54.03) and boys’ 4000-meter distance medley relay (12:24.77) each placed fifth, and the boys’ 4×800-meter relay (9:34.64) and girls’ 4×100-meter relay (53.52) finished sixth.
