North’s boys’ and girls’ track teams finished as the runner-up at the 2025 Ranger Invitational at Nick Carter Stadium on Thursday.

Junior Brayden Sandstrom led the way for the Rangers as he won three individual events and helped the 4×100-meter relay team finish second.

“It felt amazing to be at home and me being able to walk away with three gold medals,” Sandstrom said.

Sandstrom won the 100-meter dash in 11.03 seconds, a new personal record by .11 seconds, the 200 in 22.55, a new PR by .09 seconds, and the long jump with a best leap of 19 feet, 6 ½ inches.

“My best event was the 200-meter dash,” he said. “I have good endurance and finish strong, and I PRd every time I ran it this year, and I’m only going to get better.”

Sandstrom and the 4×100-meter relay team of Drake Martinez, E.J. Cauton, and Alexavier Harris placed second with a new season PR of 44.92 seconds.

Junior Matthew Dupnock won a pair of events as he finished first in the 1600 with a time of 5:00.64, and first in the 3200 in 11:23.79.

Freshman Zoey Prosen claimed first place in the long jump with a best leap of 15 feet, 2 ½ inches, and sophomore Amaya Majette won the discus with a best throw off 111-2. Prosen also placed second in the high jump with a top clearance of 4-10.

Other athletes finishing second for the Rangers were junior Tatyana King (200, 28.78), senior Daniel Snyder (800, 2:05.01), junior Rylee Smith (long jump, 15-0.25), junior Alexavier Harris (discus, 129-8), sophomore Paylin Oostdyk (discus, 105-8), senior Annie Gillespie (800, 2:44.75), and sophomore Amaya Majette (shot put, 34-3).

The boys’ 4×800-meter relay team finished as the runner-up with a time of 3:46.36.

North’s other scorers included Brand Bambrick (6th, 200, 24.88), Breonna Buchanan (4th, pole vault, 6-0), Ethan John Cauton (6th, long jump, 17-5.50; 6th, pole vault, 7-6), London Cecil (8th, 400, 1:09.31), Dionna Chaney (6th, 1600, 7:29.89; 4th, 3200, 17:11.41), Ashanti Compton (3rd, 100, 13.29), Alexavier Harris (3rd, shot put, 41-3.50), Thomas Holtman (4th, discus, 118-2), John-Michael Hopkins (3rd, 300 hurdles, 43.67; 5th, 110 hurdles, 17.53), Tatyana King (4th, 400, 1:07.83), Jaiden Kramer (6th, 400, 1:00.05; 8th, 300 hurdles, 55.37), Drake Martinez (4th, 100, 11.71), Temperance Martinez (5th, 200, 29.57), Paylin Oostdyk (4th, shot put, 30-7.75), Alexis Panzarella (5th, 1600, 7:13.08; 3rd, 3200, 16:31.06), Vincent Panzarella (7th, 400, 1:00.55; 4th, 3200, 11:58.13), Rylee Smith (5th, high jump, 4-6), and Camden Zappola (3rd, pole vault, 10-6; 4th, 110 hurdles, 17.15).

The Rangers placed third in the girls’ 4×200-meter relay (1:55.31), third in the girls’ 4×100 (54.09), fourth in the girls’ 4×400 (5:08.57), and third in the girls’ 4×800 (12:51.02). North’s boys’ 4×200-meter relay team finished fourth in 1:40.66, and the boys’ 4×800 team placed third in 9:00.10.
